Security check

At the Supreme Court, you need to go through a security check before reaching the public areas. The purpose of the check is to increase the safety and security of the Court's premises. At the checkpoint, you go through an alarm arch and your bag is searched for unauthorized items. For a quick and easy check, please bring fewer items.

As a visitor, you are encouraged to arrive at the Court in good time as there may be a queue at the checkpoint before the hearing begins. The control does not extend to the staff of the Court or to others who appear on the Court's premises in the performance of public service or public duties. If you are only going to visit the reception of the Supreme Court, you do not need to go through the security check.

Anyone who refuses to undergo a security check will not be allowed to enter the premises.

There are the following exceptions to the security check:

  • Prosecutors must present official identification or other means of proof of identity.
  • Lawyers must present a lawyer's license. Checks can be made against the Bar Association's register.
  • Police officers (including uniformed officers) must present their official identification.

A person who is generally exempt from control must always be able to prove his or her affiliation, see above. If you can't (and if you are not recognized by the security guard), you must go through the security check.

If the security guard recognizes a person as belonging to the exempt group, he or she may immediately decide that the person in question does not need to undergo the check.

A security guard is not obliged to check that someone belongs to the exempt group in any other way than as described above.

If you have any questions about the security check, you are welcome to contact the court's security coordinator, tel. 08-561 666 81 or hogsta.domstolen@dom.se.
